Strigiformes are the order of birds to which owls belong. 

Owls have large forward-facing eyes and ear-holes; a downward curved beak and a flat face. 
Most owls are nocturnal, actively hunting their prey only in darkness. Several types of owl, however, are crepuscular—active during the twilight hours of dawn and dusk; A few owls are active during the day also. 

It has been considered that eye colour is related to when the owl hunts, dark (nocturnal), Orange (dusk/dawn), Yellowish (daytime), but there is no real correlation that has been found. 
These are unique pieces using mix media and taxidermy materials to create engaging and transfixing paintings, capturing the enigmatic air of mystery which surrounds these nocturnal birds.
